Medprime Technologies has launched CILIKA AI, an AI-powered platform designed to automate pathology workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve diagnostic accuracy in laboratories.
Glimpse:
Announced in April 2026, CILIKA AI is a modular software ecosystem that debuts with a reticulocyte counting module, automating the identification of immature red blood cells from digital images. The solution reduces manual workload, shortens turnaround time, and enhances precision in hematology diagnostics.
Medprime Technologies has introduced CILIKA AI, an AI-powered platform aimed at transforming pathology workflows by automating one of the most time consuming laboratory processes reticulocyte counting.
The platform launches with its first module, CILIKA AI Retic, which analyzes digital images of blood samples to identify and count immature red blood cells (reticulocytes). This process is critical for assessing bone marrow activity and monitoring conditions such as anemia, oncology recovery, and treatment response.
Traditionally, reticulocyte counting is performed manually under a microscope, requiring pathologists to scan multiple fields of view and count cells individually. This approach is not only time consuming but also prone to variability and human error due to fatigue and subjective interpretation.
CILIKA AI addresses these challenges by automatically detecting and highlighting candidate cells on digital images, generating counts, and producing reports within minutes. Early feedback suggests that tasks that previously took around 30 minutes can now be completed in just a few minutes.
Importantly, the system is designed as an assistive tool, allowing laboratory professionals to retain full control over final clinical decisions while significantly reducing repetitive workload.
The platform leverages AI-based image analysis using supravital staining techniques and processes multiple fields of view simultaneously, improving both diagnostic accuracy and efficiency. It also makes advanced hematology analysis more accessible to smaller labs that may not have access to expensive automated analyzers.
CILIKA AI is part of a broader push by Medprime to digitize pathology through digital microscopy and remote diagnostics, enabling faster reporting and scalable diagnostic capabilities across healthcare systems.
Experts believe that initiatives like the Atal MedTechav Museum & Library not only preserve the history of medical innovation but also inspire future advancements by bridging education, research, and industry.
Experts note that such AI tools represent a growing trend in healthcare, where automation is used to handle repetitive, labor-intensive tasks allowing clinicians to focus on complex decision making while improving speed, consistency, and overall patient outcomes.
“CILIKA AI Retic is just the foundation of an evolving ecosystem.”
