Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated a new 450-bed multi-specialty hospital at KRIMS (Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Medical Services) in Belagavi. The facility aims to provide advanced tertiary care to the North Karnataka region, reducing patient travel to Bengaluru or Mumbai. He also assured that another major hospital will be established in Karwar to strengthen coastal healthcare access.

The KRIMS hospital features modern ICUs, modular OTs, advanced diagnostics (MRI, CT, cath labs), and specialties like cardiology, oncology, neurosciences, orthopaedics, and mother & child care. CM Siddaramaiah highlighted that the hospital will serve the people of Belagavi, Dharwad, Bagalkot, and surrounding districts. He announced plans for a similar large-scale hospital in Karwar to address healthcare gaps in Uttara Kannada district.

Critical care state-of-the-art ICUs, trauma centre, and emergency services Cardiac & neurosciences cath labs, neuro-intervention, and stroke unit Oncology medical, surgical, and radiation oncology with chemotherapy suites Orthopaedics & trauma joint replacement, spine surgery, and 24×7 accident & emergency care Mother & child health high-risk pregnancy unit, NICU, and paediatric subspecialties Diagnostics & support advanced radiology (MRI, CT, PET-CT), pathology labs, and blood bank
Speaking at the inauguration, CM Siddaramaiah emphasized the government’s commitment to equitable healthcare. He noted that the KRIMS hospital will significantly reduce the burden on facilities in Bengaluru and provide timely treatment to patients from Belagavi, Dharwad, Bagalkot, Gadag, and neighbouring districts. He also announced that another major multi-specialty hospital will be established in Karwar to serve the coastal Uttara Kannada region, addressing long-standing demands for advanced care in that area.

The Chief Minister assured continued focus on recruitment of specialists, equipment upgrades, and digital integration to ensure the hospital operates at full capacity and efficiency.
