At the DHN City Meet-Up Mumbai 2026, Maharashtra Health Minister Prakash Abitkar emphasized accelerating digital health adoption across the state. The strategy includes strengthening infrastructure, expanding digital health IDs under ABDM, and improving real time data driven care delivery.

At the DHN City Meet-Up Mumbai 2026, Maharashtra’s Health Minister Prakash Abitkar presented a comprehensive vision for transforming the state’s healthcare ecosystem through digital innovation. Addressing industry leaders and stakeholders, he highlighted the importance of integrating advanced technologies into public healthcare infrastructure to improve accessibility, efficiency, and patient outcomes.

A key focus of the roadmap is building a more connected healthcare system where patient data flows seamlessly across hospitals and providers. The minister emphasized that digital health tools are no longer optional but essential for delivering timely and equitable care, especially in a large and diverse state like Maharashtra.

He pointed to the progress made under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), noting that a growing number of citizens are now registered with ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) IDs. These digital health identities are expected to play a central role in enabling interoperable, patient centric healthcare services.

The vision also includes enhancing real time data access for clinicians, enabling faster decision making, and improving coordination across healthcare facilities. By leveraging digital platforms, the state aims to shift toward smarter governance, where insights from health data can guide policy decisions and resource allocation.

Industry experts at the event echoed the importance of aligning technology with real clinical workflows, ensuring that digital tools genuinely enhance patient care rather than add complexity. The discussions reflected a broader national trend toward adopting AI, digital records, and connected systems to modernize healthcare delivery.

Overall, the address underscored Maharashtra’s commitment to building a future ready healthcare system one that is digital first, patient focused, and capable of scaling innovations across urban and rural populations alike.

“Digital tools are not just supporting healthcare they are shaping how care is delivered, accessed, and experienced.”
