Max Healthcare Institute Ltd has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a 58.4% stake in Kalinga Hospital Limited in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, for a cash consideration of ₹300 crore. The deal marks Max Healthcare’s entry into the Odisha market and significantly strengthens its presence in Eastern India.

Glimpse:

Kalinga Hospital is a 350 bed multi-speciality facility with strong clinical expertise in cardiac sciences, neurosciences, oncology, and critical care. The acquisition will allow Max Healthcare to integrate Kalinga into its network, upgrade infrastructure, expand clinical services, and introduce its operational excellence standards while retaining local talent and brand equity.

Max Healthcare, one of India’s largest hospital chains, is set to enter the Odisha healthcare market through the acquisition of a majority stake in Kalinga Hospital Limited. The company has agreed to purchase 58.4% equity in the Bhubaneswar based hospital for ₹300 crore in an all cash deal.

Kalinga Hospital is a well established 350-bed multi-speciality tertiary care facility known for its expertise in cardiac sciences, neurosciences, oncology, orthopaedics, and critical care. The acquisition will enable Max Healthcare to bring its clinical protocols, technology platforms, and operational best practices to Eastern India while leveraging Kalinga’s strong regional presence and reputation.

This strategic move is part of Max Healthcare’s aggressive expansion plan to strengthen its footprint across high-growth markets in India. Post acquisition, Kalinga Hospital will benefit from enhanced investment in infrastructure, advanced medical technology, and improved service quality.

The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed in the coming months.

“This acquisition marks our entry into Odisha and reinforces our commitment to expanding quality healthcare access in Eastern India. We look forward to working with the Kalinga team to elevate clinical outcomes and patient experience in the region.”
