ShardaCare Healthcity Launches Dedicated Institute of Bone Marrow Transplant in Greater Noida

ShardaCare Healthcity, part of Sharda University’s healthcare arm, has inaugurated a state of the art Institute of Bone Marrow Transplant in Greater Noida. The new facility offers comprehensive services for autologous and allogeneic transplants, including haploidentical and unrelated donor procedures, supported by advanced HLA typing, cryopreservation, and post transplant care units aiming to serve patients from northern India and reduce the need for treatment abroad.

Glimpse:

The Institute, launched on January 25, 2026, is equipped with a dedicated BMT unit featuring HEPA-filtered rooms, specialised transplant ICU, apheresis machines, and a fully functional stem cell processing lab. It will initially focus on haematological malignancies (leukaemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma), thalassemia, aplastic anaemia, and select autoimmune disorders. The centre aims to perform 100–150 transplants annually within the first few years, with a strong emphasis on affordability, multidisciplinary care, and integration with ShardaCare’s existing oncology and paediatrics services.

ShardaCare Healthcity in Greater Noida has taken a major step forward in advanced haematology and transplant care by launching its dedicated Institute of Bone Marrow Transplant. The facility was formally inaugurated on January 25, 2026, in the presence of senior clinicians, university leadership, and regional health officials, marking a significant addition to the NCR’s transplant ecosystem.

The Institute is designed as a comprehensive BMT centre capable of handling both autologous and allogeneic transplants, including complex haploidentical (half-matched family donor) and unrelated donor procedures. It features:

  • HEPA-filtered positive pressure rooms and protective isolation suites
  • Dedicated transplant ICU and step-down care units
  • On-site apheresis unit for peripheral blood stem cell collection
  • State of the art cryopreservation and stem cell processing laboratory
  • Advanced HLA typing and chimerism monitoring capabilities
  • Multidisciplinary team including transplant haematologists, immunologists, infectious disease specialists, critical care physicians, and transplant coordinators

The centre will initially prioritise haematological malignancies (acute leukaemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma), thalassemia major, severe aplastic anaemia, and select inherited immune deficiencies and autoimmune disorders. It will also offer post-transplant long-term follow up, graft versus-host disease management, and supportive care services.

Dr. [Lead Transplant Physician], Head of the Institute, highlighted the regional need: β€œMany patients from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, and neighbouring states currently travel to Delhi, Mumbai, or abroad for bone marrow transplants due to limited specialised centres. Our goal is to make high-quality, affordable transplant care accessible closer to home while maintaining international standards of safety and outcomes.”

The Institute will integrate with ShardaCare Healthcity’s existing oncology, paediatrics, and critical care departments, creating a seamless pathway for patients from diagnosis through transplant and long-term survivorship. The hospital has also committed to building partnerships with national and international bone marrow donor registries to improve access to unrelated donors for patients without matched family members.

The launch aligns with India’s growing focus on expanding transplant infrastructure under the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) and state level initiatives to reduce out of pocket expenditure for complex treatments. ShardaCare plans to offer subsidised packages under Ayushman Bharat and state insurance schemes to ensure broader access.

β€œBone marrow transplant is a life-saving procedure for many blood disorders and cancers. By establishing this dedicated institute in Greater Noida, we are bringing hope and healing closer to thousands of families who previously had limited options.”
