SpaMedica has introduced Aetheia, a groundbreaking remote eye diagnostic tool designed to transform NHS ophthalmology services by enabling high-resolution assessments from anywhere. The technology streams live eye exams securely to remote optometrists, who provide immediate clinical evaluations ensuring uniform care quality across urban and rural areas.

Currently, nearly 600,000 patients await specialist eye care on the NHS, with a third exceeding the 18-week target. Aetheia addresses this by facilitating remote diagnostics, reducing cancelled clinics, shortening waits, and eliminating unnecessary journeys. It also unlocks out-of-hours assessments, expanding capacity flexibly.

The national deployment follows a pilot involving 100 clinics and feedback from over 2,000 patients, confirming benefits like enhanced efficiency and patient convenience.
