Telangana Issues Health Advisory Ahead of Weeklong Rainfall! Watch for Disease Spike

Published: October 9, 2025
SHARE

With moderate to heavy rainfall forecasted for the coming week, Telangana’s health department has issued a general advisory to guard against vector borne and waterborne illnesses, especially in vulnerable regions.

Glimpse:

Officials have warned of increased risks of dengue, malaria, cholera, and respiratory diseases due to rising humidity, stagnant water, and temperature shifts. Citizens are advised to use mosquito nets, avoid water stagnation around homes, practice clean water habits, and remain alert.

Telangana’s Public Health division has issued a statewide health advisory as meteorological agencies predict light to moderate rainfall across the region for several days ahead. The forecast prompts concern for vector-borne diseases (like dengue, malaria, chikungunya), waterborne illnesses, and respiratory infections due to increased humidity.

The state has urged the public to take preventive steps: eliminate stagnant water around homes, use mosquito repellents or nets, keep windows and doors screened, practice water purification, and maintain personal hygiene. Officials also encourage β€œdry day” routines once a week to help drain standing water.

Rural and peri urban zones where drainage is poor and sanitation gaps exist are likely to see higher exposure. Health departments are coordinating community outreach, increased disease surveillance, and readiness in clinics to manage potential outbreaks.

β€œRain brings relief but also risk. It’s the forgotten rains that breed disease.”
