CCH, a rural health system in Wyoming, has begun using Abridge’s Ambient AI platform to capture real-time clinician–patient conversations and automatically generate structured clinical documentation directly into its Epic EHR system helping reduce paperwork burden and boost care efficiency.
Glimpse:
With Abridge, providers at CCH can focus more on patients listening, interacting, and delivering care while the AI transcribes and formats visit notes automatically. Patients get easy access to their visit summaries via MyChart, enhancing transparency and engagement.
Campbell County Health (CCH), based in Gillette, Wyoming, has rolled out the AI-powered clinical-note system from Abridge to streamline documentation workflows across its facilities. The platform “listens” to conversations during patient visits, transcribes them, and auto-generates structured notes integrated directly into CCH’s Epic electronic health record (EHR) system.
By automating what has traditionally been a time-consuming and manual task, the system aims to significantly reduce administrative burden on clinicians giving them more uninterrupted face-to-face time with patients. This is especially valuable for rural health settings like CCH, where staffing and time pressures are often acute.
For patients, the benefits include improved care coordination and access: once the note is finalised, they can review their visit summary via their MyChart portal, helping them stay informed and engaged in their own care. Chief Executive of CCH, Matt Shahan, said the move supports the organization’s mission to deliver compassionate, community-focused care while embracing modern healthcare-IT tools.
This adoption follows a broader trend: multiple major health systems globally have implemented Abridge’s ambient-AI documentation platform, including UPMC, Duke Health and Hartford HealthCare highlighting growing confidence in AI-driven documentation to reduce clinician burnout and improve care workflows.
“Introducing Abridge allows our clinicians to spend more time connecting with patients while ensuring accurate, secure documentation. Patients will also have easy access to their visit notes giving them more control and insight into their care.”
