The state of Uttar Pradesh is rapidly scaling up its integration of ABDM across public-health facilities aiming to link all government-hospital patients with a 14-digit ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) ID. This move comes as ABHA adoption nationwide surpasses 14.3 crore registered accounts.
Glimpse:
UP’s expansion involves onboarding more hospitals, labs and pharmacies into ABDM-compatible systems, and streamlining ABHA enrolment (including assisted registrations) to ensure inclusive access. Once fully integrated, patients will be able to access digital health-records, OPD registration, diagnostic history and more through their ABHA reducing paperwork, wait times and ensuring continuity of care.
Under a recent directive, Uttar Pradesh has launched a major push to integrate all government-run hospitals with the Aadhaar- and ABHA-based digital health infrastructure of ABDM. Hospitals, diagnostic centres, and pharmacies are being onboarded, and state-level drives are underway to link every patient visiting public facilities to an ABHA ID. nal health-ID rollout has crossed a significant milestone: ABHA registrations have now crossed 14.3 crore signalling widespread adoption of digital-health identity across India.
With ABDM integration, patients gain access to a digital health-record ecosystem: OPD registrations via QR-code scan (the “Scan & Share” service), lab-report sharing, teleconsultations, longitudinal history tracking all linked to a single ABHA ID. This interoperability promises to reduce duplicate tests, enable easier referrals across hospitals, and speed up workflows.
State officials highlight that the push especially targets rural areas and underserved populations: assisted-registration camps and community drives (including via mobile/outreach teams) are helping overcome digital-access barriers. The goal is to make ABHA universal, ensuring every citizen can benefit from digital-health continuity, regardless of internet or smartphone access.
“Linking every patient to ABHA across our public hospitals means their health history travels with them ensuring safer, faster and coordinated care anytime, anywhere.”
