With over two decades of experience in hospital operations, clinical excellence, and strategic growth, Rawat will lead day-to-day management, drive operational efficiency, enhance patient experience, and spearhead expansion initiatives at one of North India’s busiest tertiary care centres.

Glimpse:

Yashpal Singh Rawat, formerly associated with leading hospital chains including Max Healthcare and Artemis Hospitals, assumes the role of Senior Vice President at Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI) Gurugram. He will oversee clinical and non-clinical operations, quality & patient safety programs, revenue cycle management, medical tourism growth, and implementation of advanced technologies such as AI-assisted diagnostics and robotic surgery workflows. The appointment reflects Fortis’s focus on strengthening leadership at its marquee facility to maintain its position as a centre of excellence in multi-specialty and quaternary care.

Fortis Healthcare Limited has announced the appointment of Yashpal Singh Rawat as Senior Vice President and Facility Director of Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI) in Gurugram. Rawat brings more than 22 years of rich experience in hospital operations, having held senior leadership positions at Max Healthcare, Artemis Hospitals, and Paras Healthcare, where he successfully managed large multispecialty facilities, led accreditation processes (JCI, NABH), and drove significant improvements in clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and financial performance.

In his new role, Rawat will be responsible for the overall leadership and strategic direction of FMRI Gurugram, one of India’s most advanced quaternary care hospitals known for its centres of excellence in oncology, cardiac sciences, neurosciences, organ transplants, orthopaedics, and robotic surgery. His mandate includes optimizing operational efficiency, strengthening medical and nursing talent pools, enhancing patient experience through digital tools and personalized care pathways, expanding medical tourism and international patient services, and ensuring seamless integration of emerging technologies such as AI-powered diagnostics, robotic-assisted procedures, and tele-ICU capabilities.

Rawat will report directly to the senior leadership team at Fortis Healthcare and work closely with clinical heads, including renowned specialists such as Dr. Ashok Rajgopal (Orthopaedics), Dr. Udgeath Dhir (Cardiac Surgery), Dr. Praveen Chandra (Interventional Cardiology), and Dr. Sandeep Vaishya (Neurosurgery), to align operational goals with clinical excellence.

Speaking on the appointment, Fortis Healthcare leadership stated that Yashpal Rawat’s proven expertise in managing high-volume, complex hospital environments and his track record of delivering consistent growth and quality outcomes make him the ideal leader to take FMRI to the next level of performance and patient impact. Rawat himself expressed enthusiasm about joining Fortis, noting that FMRI’s world-class infrastructure, talented clinician pool, and strong brand equity provide a unique platform to further elevate care standards in North India.

The appointment comes at a time when Fortis is aggressively expanding its footprint across India and strengthening its position in high-acuity specialties while navigating the evolving landscape of healthcare delivery, insurance penetration, and digital transformation. Rawat takes charge effective immediately and will be based at the Gurugram facility.

“FMRI Gurugram is already a beacon of excellence in Indian healthcare. My focus will be to build on this legacy by driving operational excellence, embracing innovation, and ensuring every patient receives world-class care with compassion and efficiency.”
