Telangana to Expand Health ATMs Across High-Footfall Hospitals After Successful Pilot Delivers Faster Diagnostics

Published: April 6, 2026

The Telangana government is planning a wider rollout of Health ATMs in busy government hospitals following a successful pilot at King Koti District Hospital and Malakpet Area Hospital in Hyderabad. These self-service kiosks, developed by Cloud Spital, enable patients to undergo over 130 diagnostic tests quickly, with results generated in minutes and integrated into digital health records.

Glimpse:

Introduced in August 2025, the Health ATMs perform non-invasive tests and blood based investigations such as ECG, blood pressure, blood sugar, haemoglobin, liver function, and kidney function. Results are delivered rapidly and linked to Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) and eSanjeevani telemedicine services. The pilot showed reliable accuracy after cross verification with Telangana Diagnostics Centre (T-Diagnostics) and private labs, helping reduce waiting times and decongest outpatient departments in high traffic hospitals.

The Telangana government is set to expand the deployment of Health ATMs in more high footfall government hospitals after the initial pilot demonstrated clear benefits in speeding up diagnostics and improving patient flow. These touchscreen enabled kiosks allow patients to self perform a wide range of basic and advanced tests without long queues, addressing the heavy pressure on outpatient services in public hospitals.

Each Health ATM can conduct more than 130 diagnostic tests, including ECG, blood pressure measurement, blood sugar levels, haemoglobin estimation, liver and kidney function tests, along with several non invasive assessments. The system generates results within minutes and automatically uploads them to the patient’s digital health records through cloud connectivity. This seamless integration supports continuity of care and enables doctors to access test data instantly for quicker clinical decisions.

The pilot was launched in August 2025 at King Koti District Hospital and Malakpet Area Hospital in Hyderabad. Blood samples from the ATMs were cross checked at Telangana Diagnostics Centre (T-Diagnostics) and select private laboratories, confirming high accuracy and reliability. Officials evaluated the initiative on parameters such as reduced waiting times, decongestion of OPDs, and improved access to diagnostics, especially for pre-consultation screening.

Health ATMs are also integrated with the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) and the eSanjeevani telemedicine platform, allowing patients to consult doctors remotely with their test results readily available. While the pilot has received positive feedback, authorities noted that multiple units may be needed in very busy hospitals to prevent new bottlenecks.

A formal report on the pilot has been submitted to the state government, and plans for wider rollout are now being finalised to strengthen primary and preventive healthcare services across Telangana.

β€œThe Health ATMs will significantly reduce diagnostic delays and help decongest outpatient departments. Patients can now get key test results quickly, enabling doctors to make faster and more informed treatment decisions.”
