Care Health Insurance’s Annual Trends Report 2025 reveals a 27% year-on-year increase in insured members, fueled by rising medical costs, greater health awareness, and widespread adoption of digital wellness features. Preventive tools, app-based management, and higher sum insured across age groups highlight India’s evolving focus on proactive healthcare.

Glimpse:

Released on December 29, 2025, the report shows escalating claims for infectious diseases (dengue, malaria, flu) and lifestyle ailments (cardiac, cancer, arthritis), prompting consumers to opt for comprehensive coverage. Digital renewals and wellness app usage have surged, with young adults (18-35) leading first-time buys and families boosting child covers by over 7%. Seniors now comprise 14% of policyholders, underscoring inclusive growth in health protection.

India’s health insurance landscape is undergoing a profound transformation, with uptake rising sharply as consumers embrace wellness incentives and digital platforms, according to Care Health Insurance’s comprehensive Annual Trends Report 2025. The report, analyzing data from underwriting years 2023โ€“24 to 2024โ€“25, documents a more than 27% increase in insured membersย a clear indicator of heightened financial prudence amid soaring medical inflation and unpredictable health risks.

Rising claims for vector-borne illnesses like dengue and malaria, alongside respiratory infections, heart conditions, cancer, and arthritis, reflect shifting disease patterns influenced by climate, urbanization, and lifestyles. This has driven demand for robust coverage, with average sum insured climbing across demographics. Notably, child policies (0-17 years) saw over 7% growth in coverage value, signaling parental prioritization of long-term protection.

Young adults aged 18-35 remain the dominant first-time buyers (over 30%), while seniors (60+) now represent nearly 14% of the portfolio highlighting broadened access for elderly care.

A standout trend is the boom in digital engagementย Policyholders increasingly favor app-based renewals, teleconsultations, step tracking, and preventive health tools, often tied to premium discounts. This digital surge streamlines management and rewards proactive behaviors, aligning with national pushes like Ayushman Bharat.

The report underscores a cultural shift from reactive to preventive healthcare, where wellness-linked benefits encourage healthier living and reduce long-term claims burden.

โ€œThere is a definite trend of Indians actively obtaining Health Insurance underscoring the growing awareness about the need of comprehensive health cover accelerated by escalating medical costs.โ€
