Midstream Health, a healthtech company focused on AI-powered revenue cycle solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with CommonSpirit Health, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit Catholic health systems. The agreement brings Midstream’s intelligent financial operations platform into CommonSpirit’s extensive network of hospitals, clinics, and physician practices.

CommonSpirit, formed by the 2019 merger of Dignity Health and Catholic Health Initiatives, operates more than 140 hospitals and hundreds of care sites across 21 states. The system faces significant revenue cycle complexity due to its scale, payer mix, and high volume of claims. Midstream’s platform uses machine learning models trained on vast datasets of payer rules, clinical documentation, and historical claim outcomes to automate and enhance key processes.

Core capabilities being deployed include: Real-time eligibility & benefit verification to reduce downstream denials AI-assisted charge capture and coding guidance to capture full reimbursement Proactive claim scrubbing and error prediction before submission Intelligent denial management with automated appeal workflows Predictive AR prioritization to focus staff on high-value follow-ups

Early implementations are expected to improve first-pass resolution rates, reduce days in accounts receivable, and recover previously lost revenue. The partnership also includes ongoing data collaboration to refine models based on CommonSpirit’s unique payer and case mix.
