Siemens Healthineers Unveils AI-Enabled Coronary Cockpit to Transform CAD Diagnosis & Treatment Planning

Siemens Healthineers has introduced Syngo.CT Coronary Cockpit, an AI-driven software tool designed to enhance coronary artery disease (CAD) management by automating advanced plaque analysis and supporting clinical decision-making with cardiac CT imaging. The launch took place at RSNA 2025, the world’s premier radiology meeting.

Built on the Syngo.via platform, this software works with both dual-source and next-generation photon-counting CT scanners. It uses artificial intelligence to quantify and visualize coronary plaque, helping doctors plan treatments more accurately, avoid unnecessary invasive procedures, and personalise care pathways.

Siemens Healthineers has announced a major advancement in coronary artery disease care with the introduction of Syngo.CT Coronary Cockpit, a new clinical software solution showcased at the RSNA 2025 conference in Chicago. Coronary artery disease remains the leading cause of death globally, driving demand for faster, more accurate, and less invasive diagnostic tools a need this software is designed to meet.

The platform integrates with both dual-source and cutting-edge photon-counting CT scanners, enabling detailed evaluation of coronary anatomy from cardiac CT angiography. AI-powered algorithms conduct automated plaque segmentation, labelling and visualisation, characterising both plaque volume and morphology. These insights allow clinicians to assess disease risk more precisely and decide on optimal treatment strategies  whether that means medical therapy, intervention, or lifestyle management.

Traditionally, many patients suspected of CAD are referred to invasive diagnostic procedures in the catheterisation lab  even when these interventions are not strictly necessary. Syngo.CT Coronary Cockpit enhances non-invasive CT imaging so much that it can significantly reduce unnecessary cath lab referrals, shorten hospital stays, and lower healthcare costs, while improving the care pathway for patients.

By delivering a unified picture of coronary plaque burden and anatomy before interventional treatment, the tool also helps optimise procedural planning, such as stent selection and lesion preparation. Siemens Healthineers leadership states that this innovation helps bring healthcare closer to personalised, minimally invasive CAD management, redefining how clinicians approach diagnosis and intervention.

“With Syngo.CT Coronary Cockpit, we combine CT imaging and interventional therapy expertise to help people with coronary artery disease live longer, healthier lives moving beyond diagnosis to guide treatment decisions.”
