Telanganaโs government is preparing to present a comprehensive new healthcare policy as part of its 2026-27 budget, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced. The policy is expected to lay out strategic priorities for improving health outcomes, expanding care access, and modernising healthcare infrastructure throughout the state.
The proposed policy will emphasise strengthening primary healthcare networks, upgrading district and community health centres, and supporting specialised care in critical areas such as maternal and child health, non-communicable diseases and emergency response services. Officials have indicated that the framework will also address gaps in rural healthcare access by increasing facility capacity and health workforce deployment.
Another key objective of the new health policy is to integrate digital health systems, including electronic health records, telemedicine platforms, and health data analytics, in order to support seamless care delivery, improve quality of services, and enhance disease surveillance and response. The policy is expected to align with national health priorities and state level health transformation goals.
Preventive health programmesย emphasising immunisation, awareness campaigns, lifestyle disease management and early screening are also expected to be core components of the policy. Public health experts say that a strong focus on prevention, combined with improved facility infrastructure and workforce support, can reduce disease burden and lower long-term healthcare costs for the state.
The Chief Minister underscored that the new policy will be crafted with inputs from healthcare professionals, administrative leaders and civil society stakeholders to ensure that it resonates with community needs and practical service delivery realities. With the policy slated for tabling during the 2026-27 budget session, the administration aims to provide a clear roadmap for health system strengthening that supports equitable care for all residents of Telangana.
โOur upcoming healthcare policy will reflect Telanganaโs commitment to accessible, high quality care integrating modern technologies, robust infrastructure and preventive health strategies for every citizen.โ
