Tiny, Yet Revolutionary… Endoscopy made Easier & Effective
All these years Endoscopy was little troublesome & must needed. Now AIG, India’s topmost hospital for gastroenterology in collaboration with an American based innovator Endiatx, brought us a revolutionary innovation in the Endoscopy technology through a robotic capsule called PillBot.
PillBot is primarily a tiny swallowable robot in the size of a pill, which captures high resolution images in real time and which can be navigated through a remote by a doctor within 10 minutes.
At present PillBot is under clinical trials in India & waiting for the approval from FDA. This innovation clearly elucidates how global partnerships can drive meaningful innovation in the field of healthcare.
Dr. Alex Luebke, Co-founder of Endiatx, shared his vision: “Our mission is to make PillBot a widely available tool, leveraging the power of AI. We see a future where PillBot not only diagnoses autonomously but also plays a key role in guiding personalized preventive care for patients.”
Dr. Nageshwar Reddy added, “This breakthrough technology has the potential to revolutionize gastrointestinal care in India. It will not only save lives but also drastically lower the cost of diagnostics. While production costs are currently around 100 dollars, we are confident that, with mass production, we can bring this down to as little as 35 dollars.”
As clinical trials advance, PillBot stands on the brink of transforming the landscape of gastrointestinal diagnostics, making cutting-edge, AI-powered care more affordable and accessible to millions across India.
HealthBuzz reckons that this innovation from Padma Shri & Padma Bhushan Awardee Dr. Nageshwar Reddy in collaboration with Endiatx surely take Indian Healthcare to many more levels above.
