Chhattisgarh Signs MoU with STPI to Accelerate AI & Medtech Innovation

Chhattisgarh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) to establish an AI and Medtech innovation ecosystem in the state. The partnership aims to foster startups, build R&D infrastructure, and promote AI-driven healthcare solutions through incubation, mentorship, funding access, and industry-academia collaboration.

Glimpse:

Under the MoU, STPI will set up dedicated AI-Medtech centres, co-working labs, and innovation hubs in Raipur and other locations. The initiative will support early-stage startups developing AI tools for diagnostics, telemedicine, remote monitoring, predictive analytics, and hospital efficiency. It includes training programs, regulatory guidance, and linkages to investors and corporates, positioning Chhattisgarh as an emerging hub for healthtech innovation in central India.

The Government of Chhattisgarh has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) to boost AI and medtech innovation across the state. The agreement, signed in early 2026, marks a significant step toward building a vibrant digital health ecosystem in a region traditionally known more for mining and agriculture.

Key elements of the partnership include: Establishment of AI-Medtech innovation centres and co-innovation labs in Raipur (and potentially Bilaspur/Naya Raipur) Incubation and acceleration support for healthtech startups focusing on AI diagnostics, telemedicine platforms, wearable health devices, predictive disease modelling, and hospital workflow automation Capacity-building programsย workshops, hackathons, mentorship from industry experts, and training in AI ethics, data privacy, and regulatory compliance (CDSCO, ABDM) Access to funding and market linkages through STPIโ€™s investor network, government schemes (Startup India, PLI), and corporate partnerships R&D facilitationย access to compute resources, datasets, and testing environments for AI model development

The MoU aligns with Chhattisgarhโ€™s broader digital transformation agenda and the national push for Atmanirbhar Bharat in medtech. STPI, under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, brings proven expertise from its successful healthtech incubators in cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune.

State officials highlighted that the initiative will create skilled jobs, attract talent and investment to Chhattisgarh, and develop locally relevant solutionsโ€”especially for rural and tribal healthcare challenges. Early focus areas include AI tools for early detection of tuberculosis, sickle cell disease (prevalent in the region), maternal health monitoring, and telemedicine for remote areas.

This collaboration is expected to position Chhattisgarh as a rising player in Indiaโ€™s fast-growing AI-medtech landscape.

โ€œAI and medtech innovation will help us reach quality healthcare to every corner of Chhattisgarh especially our tribal and rural communities.โ€
