"CSI AP Marks “World Heart Day” with Grand Celebrations”

Under the aegis of Cardiological Society of India AP Chapter, the state marked World Heart Day 2024 with grand celebrations. The programs aimed at raising awareness about cardiovascular health, in line with the global theme, “Use Heart for Action” with the focus was on encouraging individuals to take proactive steps toward heart health through healthier lifestyles and preventive measures.

In the 5k walkathon was organized at Vijayawada and Narasaraopet, thousands of people happily participated and expressed their commitment to take care of heart. In many hospitals of state, cardiologists led the programs by involving Police officials, local MLAs and other distinguished personalities and organized free heart health check-ups, tests and guided with public talks on cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention were held and even CPR training initiative was also organized. Additionally, educational programs and fitness activities such as walks and yoga sessions were held in many places. 

During the event at Vijayawada, Dr A Purnanand Treasurer CSIAP and Dr A Srimannarayana, and Managing Director of Ramesh hospitals Dr P Ramesh Babu and other specialists emphasized the importance of regular exercise, a balanced diet, and quitting smoking to reduce heart disease risks. They also highlighted the importance of swift action on emergency conditions like golden hour and regular heart checkups. 

These celebrations reflect Andhra Pradesh's commitment to supporting the global mission of the World Heart Federation in combating heart diseases, with a focus on preventive measures that could save millions of lives annually. They foster a collective effort to promote heart-healthy practices, reinforced the need to address the growing burden of heart disease, which accounts for a significant portion of preventable deaths in India. Through these celebrations, CSIAP synergized the global fight against CVD, supporting the vision of reducing the prevalence of heart disease by promoting awareness and healthy living.
