India and Seychelles Strengthen Healthcare & Pharma Ties Under New Sesel Joint Vision

Published: February 10, 2026

India and Seychelles have expanded bilateral healthcare and pharmaceutical cooperation through the Sesel Joint Vision framework, focusing on capacity building, medicine supply, telemedicine, and joint research. The agreement aims to improve healthcare access in Seychelles while leveraging India’s strengths in affordable generics, medical expertise, and digital health solutions.

Glimpse:

Under the Sesel Joint Vision initiative, India will support Seychelles with training for healthcare professionals, supply of essential medicines and vaccines, telemedicine linkages, and collaboration on pharmaceutical manufacturing and research. The partnership builds on existing ties such as India’s provision of medical equipment and COVID-19 vaccines and seeks to enhance Seychelles’ healthcare infrastructure, reduce dependence on imports, and promote knowledge exchange in tropical medicine and public health.

India and Seychelles have taken a significant step forward in healthcare and pharmaceutical collaboration by expanding their partnership under the Sesel Joint Vision framework. The updated agreement, formalized during high-level talks in early 2026, emphasizes sustainable healthcare development for Seychelles while deepening India’s role as a reliable partner in the Indian Ocean region.

Key areas of cooperation include: Capacity buildingΒ Training programs for Seychellois doctors, nurses, and technicians in Indian medical institutions. Medicine and vaccine accessΒ Continued supply of affordable generic drugs, essential medicines, and vaccines from India. Telemedicine & digital healthΒ  Establishment of telemedicine links connecting Seychelles hospitals with Indian super-specialty centers for remote consultations and second opinions. Pharma & research collaborationΒ Joint initiatives in pharmaceutical production, tropical disease research, and public health surveillance.

The partnership builds on India’s longstanding support to Seychelles, including donation of medical equipment, emergency medical teams during crises, and supply of COVID-19 vaccines under the Vaccine Maitri initiative. Seychelles, with its small population and island geography, faces challenges in maintaining a robust healthcare system and accessing specialized care. India’s expertise in cost-effective generics, large-scale vaccine manufacturing, and digital health platforms offers practical solutions.

Both nations highlighted mutual benefits: Seychelles gains stronger healthcare resilience and self-sufficiency, while India advances its strategic outreach in the Indian Ocean Region and promotes its pharmaceutical and digital health capabilities globally.

β€œThis partnership under Sesel Joint Vision will bring better healthcare closer to our people and open new doors for collaboration in medicine and innovation.”
