The International Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) University, Delhi has partnered with the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) to set up a satellite research centre in Visakhapatnam, strengthening research and innovation in medical technology and healthcare systems.
Glimpse:
The new centre will focus on medtech research, data-driven health management, policy studies and industry collaborationย enhancing Indiaโs capacity for scientific investigation, product validation and evidence-based health system improvements.
The IIHMR University, Delhi and Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) have formalised a collaboration to establish a satellite centre for medtech research and healthcare innovation in Visakhapatnam. This strategic partnership aims to bridge academic research with industry expertise, fostering advanced investigation into health technologies, medical devices and systems that can improve clinical outcomes and operational efficiencies across healthcare settings.
The satellite centre will serve as a platform for multidisciplinary research focusing on medical technology assessment, data analytics, health services research, regulatory science and adoption studies. Faculty, researchers and students from IIHMR will work closely with AMTZโs manufacturing and testing ecosystem to evaluate technologies, support innovation pipelines and generate evidence that informs policy, practice and adoption of medtech solutions.
According to leadership from both organisations, the initiative is designed to promote industry-academia collaboration, enabling medtech manufacturers, startups and healthcare providers to engage in real-world research projects, pilot studies and data-driven evaluations. The centre will also host workshops, training programmes and seminars that build capacity in research methodology, health technology assessment and quality assurance.
The Visakhapatnam satellite centre further strengthens Indiaโs broader vision of creating integrated hubs where research, innovation and manufacturing co-exist โ helping translate cutting-edge ideas into scalable solutions that benefit patients and health systems alike. Situated within the AMTZ ecosystem, the centre is expected to accelerate evidence generation and nurture talent that can address complex challenges in healthcare technology and delivery.
โBy aligning academic rigour with medtech innovation, this satellite centre will help catalyse research that drives meaningful improvements in healthcare.โ
