Healthium MedTech has completed a major capacity expansion at its flagship manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, solidifying its position as one of the most vertically integrated surgical and precision medical device companies in India. The upgraded plant, which now spans a larger footprint with state-of-the-art cleanrooms and automated production lines, is designed to meet the rapidly rising demand for high-quality sutures, surgical staplers, haemostats, mesh implants, and minimally invasive access devices.
The expansion adds more than 40% to Healthium’s overall production capacity and introduces advanced automation technologies that improve precision, reduce variability, and accelerate throughput while maintaining stringent quality standards. All production lines are fully compliant with international regulatory requirements, including US FDA, European CE marking, and ISO 13485 certification, enabling Healthium to serve both domestic hospitals and a growing list of export markets in Southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.
Sri City has emerged as a strategic hub for Healthium due to its proximity to major ports, availability of skilled labour, and supportive industrial ecosystem. The expansion is expected to create several hundred new skilled jobs in engineering, quality assurance, and manufacturing operations, contributing to economic development in Andhra Pradesh.
Anish Bafna, Managing Director & CEO of Healthium MedTech, commented: “This expansion is a testament to our long-term commitment to building world-class manufacturing capabilities in India. By investing in precision infrastructure and automation, we are not only meeting growing domestic demand but also positioning Healthium to become a preferred global partner for surgical and precision devices.”
The move aligns closely with the Government of India’s Make-in-India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, which seek to deepen local manufacturing of high-value medical devices and reduce reliance on imports. Healthium’s Sri City facility is already one of the largest vertically integrated surgical products plants in the country, and this latest phase further strengthens its ability to offer cost-competitive, globally compliant solutions to healthcare providers worldwide.
With the Indian medical devices market projected to grow rapidly over the next decade, driven by rising surgical volumes, increasing healthcare access, and government localisation policies, expansions like Healthium’s are expected to play a pivotal role in building a self-reliant and export-competitive precision medtech ecosystem.
“Investing in precision infrastructure and automation in India is not just about meeting demand it’s about building a future where the country becomes a global leader in high-quality, affordable surgical and medical devices.”
