Medtronic has introduced its EndoFLIP 300 impedance planimetry system in India, enabling surgeons to measure real-time esophageal, pyloric, and anal sphincter metrics a move expected to advance diagnosis and treatment of motility disorders.

The EndoFLIP 300 system, newly launched by Medtronic in India, offers a balloon-catheter based solution to gauge diameter, pressure, and cross-sectional area in the GI tract. This device helps clinicians objectively assess esophageal tightness, adequacy of surgical interventions, and tissue compliance potentially reducing complications in motility disorder procedures.
Medtronic has officially rolled out its EndoFLIP 300 impedance planimetry system in the Indian market. The device is engineered to provide real-time measurements of the esophagus, pylorus, and anal sphincter during endoscopic evaluations of motility disorders.
Using a specialized balloon catheter, EndoFLIP 300 captures key metrics: diameter, pressure, and cross-sectional area. From these, the system calculates “distensibility” a measure of how flexible or compliant a tissue segment is across different parts of the gastrointestinal tract.
One of its key clinical benefits is in intraoperative assessment: it allows surgeons to verify whether a fundoplication is too tight or a myotomy is adequate. This data-driven approach is expected to improve patient outcomes and reduce rates of post-operative complications.
At the launch, Abhishek Bhargava, Senior Director, Medical Surgical, Medtronic India, emphasized that the firm is committed to “revolutionizing esophageal care in India by equipping physicians with advanced solutions to enhance clinical outcomes.” He added that the system is intended to empower gastroenterologists and GI surgeons with objective data for faster diagnosis and better decision-making.
In India, the product line includes not just the EndoFLIP 300 system but also measurement catheters and the EsoFLIP dilation catheter, thereby offering a more comprehensive toolset for GI diagnostics and intervention.
The broader goal of this launch is to strengthen the detection and management of esophageal motility disorders in Indian clinical practice.
