NTPC Limited has taken a major stride in supporting cancer care by allocating ₹23.16 crore under its CSR program to modernize radiotherapy services at GCRI’s Siddhpur Satellite Centre. The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), signed by NTPC Western Region–I in Mumbai and Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute (GCRI), marks a collaborative effort to install a cutting-edge high-energy Linear Accelerator (LINAC).

This advanced equipment delivers targeted, high-precision radiation to tumors while sparing healthy tissue ideal for treating cancers of the head-neck, breast, prostate, and more. The upgrade will dramatically improve treatment outcomes, shorten sessions, and increase patient throughput at the satellite centre, serving populations across North Gujarat and neighboring regions.

The MoA exchange involved Dr. Shashank Pandya, Director of GCRI, and Shri E. Satya Phani Kumar, Regional Executive Director (West–I), NTPC, in the presence of senior officials from both sides. This initiative underscores NTPC’s ongoing commitment to strengthening critical healthcare infrastructure through impactful CSR interventions.

GCRI, a premier oncology institute, operates multiple satellite centres to decentralize specialized care. The Siddhpur facility’s enhanced capabilities will reduce patient hardships, lower out-of-pocket costs, and support early-stage interventions vital amid India’s growing cancer incidence.

This project exemplifies how public sector enterprises like NTPC channel resources toward sustainable health equity, complementing government schemes for affordable treatment.
