Located in Bengaluru, the enlarged centre will support immunoassays, protein analysis and cell-based studies, reinforcing the city’s status as a life-sciences hub.

US-based Thermo Fisher Scientific has officially inaugurated an expanded R&D Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, investing over ₹160 crore (≈ US$19 million) into the project The enlarged facility spans about 37,000 sq ft and is designed to push forward antibody-related research and manufacturing covering immunoassays, protein and cell-based analyses, and advanced automation and analytics.

The expansion reflects Thermo Fisher’s long-term commitment to India’s life-sciences ecosystem. Senior company officials including Gianluca Pettiti (Executive Vice-President & Sector President, Life Sciences, Diagnostics & Applied Sector) emphasised the role of Bengaluru as a strategic innovation hub.

The Government of Karnataka, represented by the Minister for Electronics, IT & Biotechnology, Priyank Kharge, noted that this investment underscores the state’s ambition to build a global biotechnology hub.
