GB Pant Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (GIPMER), one of Delhi’s top government-run super-specialty hospitals, has launched advanced digital imaging and neuro-care infrastructure to elevate its neurological and neurosurgical services. The new facilities were formally inaugurated to address the rising burden of stroke, brain tumors, epilepsy, movement disorders, and traumatic brain injuries in the region.
Key highlights of the upgrade include: A high-field 3T MRI scanner equipped with specialized neuro sequences for detailed brain mapping, functional imaging, and early stroke detection. Intraoperative imaging systems allowing real-time CT/MRI updates during surgery to guide precise tumor removal and vascular interventions. Advanced neuronavigation platforms that integrate pre-operative imaging with live tracking for minimally invasive brain and spine procedures. Enhanced neuro-intensive care capabilities with continuous multimodal monitoring for critically ill patients.
These technologies reduce operative risks, improve surgical accuracy, shorten hospital stays, and increase success rates in complex cases. The hospital, already a major referral center for North India, will now handle more high-end neuro-interventions locally, reducing the need for patients to travel abroad or to private facilities for advanced care.
