NHA Releases Step-by-Step Guidebook for a Model Digital Health Facility

The guide sets out eight readiness checks and eight patient-journey steps, from registration to discharge, for hospitals going digital under ABDM.
The National Health Authority (NHA) has released a Guidebook for a Model Digital Health Facility to help hospitals digitise the entire patient journey instead of individual departments.
What is inside
The guidebook lays out eight readiness checks a facility should complete before starting, and eight steps in the patient journey — from registration to discharge — that need to be digitised.
For each stage, it describes the workflow changes needed, performance indicators to track progress, staff training requirements and clearly defined roles.
A living document
The NHA has described the guidebook as a living document that will be refined with feedback from states and facilities as they implement it.
The guide is aimed at helping hospitals make better use of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) building blocks such as ABHA health IDs and digital health records, so that patients see fewer queues and repeat tests.
