Stryker Launches Mako 4 SmartRobotics in India for Knee and Hip Replacement

The fourth-generation robot combines CT-based 3D planning with haptic boundaries and covers total knee, partial knee and total hip procedures on one platform.
US medical technology company Stryker has introduced Mako 4 SmartRobotics, the fourth generation of its robotic-arm assisted surgery platform, in India.
The system builds a 3D, CT-based plan specific to each patient and uses Stryker's AccuStop haptic technology to keep the surgeon's cuts within the planned boundaries during the operation.
Three procedures, one system
Mako 4 supports total knee replacement, partial knee replacement and total hip replacement — including primary and revision hip procedures — on a single platform, with real-time guidance during bone preparation.
Aman Rishi, Vice President and General Manager of Stryker India, said the country's healthcare landscape is evolving quickly, with growing demand for advanced treatments that help people stay active.
Training and track record
In May 2026, Stryker partnered with Max Smart Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, to set up a training centre for robotic-arm assisted joint replacement. According to the company, the Mako platform has been used in more than 2.5 million procedures across 47 countries over two decades.
